Master’s Programme in Strategic Information Systems Management

The programme helps you develop your skills in planning, management and technique required for leading any organisation in today's complex digital world. The focus is on design, implementation, use and evolution of information systems.

You acquire in-depth knowledge about information systems design and architecture including requirements engineering, digital resource management, service-oriented architectures and agile systems development. You will get a strong understanding of the role of IT in supporting and transforming organisations and networks, including value network design, digital innovation, enterprise systems, business process management, business intelligence, decision support and knowledge management.

Programme outline
The programme consists of courses in both business and technology. Our programme curriculum is designed to propel you along a successful career path in strategic information systems management.

This programme is offered in two versions depending on the student’s previous academic background.

Year 1

Programme alternative 1:

Students that do not have 90 credits in computer and system sciences, informatics or equivalent.

1st semester

Mandatory courses 1 x 15 credits and 2 x 7.5 credits

Supplementary course in Computer and Systems Sciences 15 credits
Big Data with NoSQL Databases 7.5 credits
Data Warehousing 7.5 credits

2nd semester

Mandatory course 1 x 7.5 credits

Scientific Communication and Research Methodology 7.5 credits

Model-driven development with low-code/no-code technology 7.5 credits

The selection is made from the following three criteria:

  • Grades of academic courses,
  • mandatory motivation letter and
  • the relevance of previous studies in relation to the programme.

It is therefore very important to submit a motivation letter.

Please note, that you can only be awarded one bachelor’s degree, one master’s degree (60 credits) and one master’s degree (120 credits) in computer and systems sciences from our department.

Graduates will be able to find positions as enterprise architects, IT project managers, business analysts and systems managers. Students with a strong technical background and interest will also be able to work as IT architects, IT engineering managers, database administrators and application developers. Students may pursue careers in a variety of organisations, including large and mid-size corporations, public sector agencies and non-governmental organisations. Graduates may also enter Ph.D. programmes to pursue a research career.
