Research Methodology in Computer and Systems Sciences

This course will introduce and provide practice of the basic challenges in scientific communication and research methodology as well as the role of science and knowledge on society.

The course covers:

  • Philosophy of science and the nature of scientific knowledge.
  • Social and ethical dimensions of research and publication.
  • Research methodologies in computer and systems sciences.
  • Problem formulation and research design.
  • Data collection and analysis methods.
  • Academic reasoning, argumentation and writing.
  • The use of AI in research and communication.

Teaching Format

The teaching consists of lectures and supervision sessions.
The language of instruction is English.

Assessment

The course is examined through an on-campus written exam and assignments.
