Performance Management
The past decades have seen dramatic increases in the explicit use of performance measurement techniques for measuring, controlling and managing organizational performance. The rationale behind these developments has been an assumption that measuring performance leads to better organizational results.
The initial parts of this course introduce techniques and tools for performance management. The course then focuses on elaborating and problematizing the understanding of performance management through different theoretical perspectives, aiming to advance analytical skills on the topic.
The course covers different theories and problematizing perspectives in lectures and readings. The seminar series provides opportunities to practice the application of theories and problematizing perspectives on various aspects of performance management.
Teaching Format
The teaching consists of lectures, seminars and group work, and requires a significant portion of self-study on the part of students.
The language of instruction is English.
Teaching takes place on campus, supplemented with digital resources with the intention of generating the highest possible educational quality.
For more detailed course information, see the study guide, published on the learning platform no later than one month before the course commences.
Assessment
Assessment for the course will be continuous and is carried throughout the different course activities. Each assessment task is weighted in relation to its importance in the overall assessment of the course. The student’s results from the different assessment tasks are added up to a total course score that will then translate into the final grade for the course.
The course’s assessment criteria, which serve as support for the assessment of the course’s assessment tasks, are announced at the start of the course.
