Cultural Heritage and Politics of Memory - Europe in the 20th Century
The course provides knowledge about how environments and remnants of 20th century Sweden and Europe today are re-interpreted and used for new purposes.

Three areas in which different aspects of a contemporary interest in the past are in focus. The first area concerns industrial heritage, the second involves problematic heritages (e.g. the Cold War) and the third relates to different forms of nostalgia. The teaching critically discusses our time's use of the past. The teaching methods integrate reading, exercises, study visits and discussions.
The course consists of one module, Cultural Heritage and Politics of Memory, 7,5 credits.
Teaching Format
Instruction is given in the form of combined lectures and seminars and a study visit.
Assessment
The course is examined on the basis of a written assignment in the form of a take-home examination. The language of examination is English.
Examiner
The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course.
