Intermediate Macroeconomics

During the course, you will advance your studies in macroeconomic theory, and learn how to apply it on the analysis of current macroeconomic problems.

You will learn more about economic growth, the determination of employment, monetary and fiscal policy in a small open economy, exchange rate determination, the causes and effects of government budget deficits, and external imbalances. The focus is on European policy problems.

This course replaces Intermediate Macroeconomics with course code EC2201.

This is a 7.5 credit course.

Course material will be available on the learning platform Athena.

For students who wish to refresh their math skills, we offer revision videos. During the course we will also offer mathematics workshops. The revision series consists of 9 videos, and you can find them on YouTube:

Teaching Format

Instruction is given in the form of lectures and group exercises/seminars. The language of instruction is English.


Assessment

The course is examined on the basis of a written examination. Students may be awarded examination credits through partial examination consisting of voluntary written assignments during the course.

Examiner

The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course.


Note that the course literature can be changed up to two months before the start of the course.
