Marine Fish Biology and Fisheries

This course focuses on both theoretical and practical applications of fish biology, including topics such as fish biodiversity, physiology, life cycles, ecology and behavior. We will apply this knowledge to diverse case studies and consider the environmental and evolutionary impacts of fisheries and protection of fishery resources.
The first part of the course consists of theoretical study, group discussions and excursions to gain an in depth understanding of fish biology. This is followed by project work to develop insight on the impact of fisheries and the conservation of marine fish populations.
Teaching Format
The format of the course will be lectures, project work and group discussions. You will work on the projects individually and as a group.
Excursions
We will have an excursion in the Stockholm area.
Assessment
The assessment will be based on case study essay, presentation and a final written exam.
